Place d'Armes

Place d'Armes is one of Montreal's most beautiful Squares. A statue of Paul de Chomedey, the founder of the city, stands at its centre.

A number of historic buildings surround Place d'Armes.  They include the following:

1. Vieux Seminaire - the city's oldest building (Notre Dame Street West)
2. Notre Dame Basilica
3. Bank of Montreal (St. Jacques Street West)

The Bank of Montreal is the oldest bank in Canada.  It was founded in 1817.

Place d'Armes is a wonderful place in Montreal to people-watch.
